Ongoing treatment

Throughout your time with us, we will work closely with you to plan the most helpful care to meet your needs.

We will work with you, your GP, care team and others in your support network to create a plan for ongoing support. Plans can be adapted to provide you with care that caters to your ongoing needs.

The treatment team will work with you and help you to know the options that are available to you.

If ongoing care is needed, a combination of treatments often works best.

Treatments usually involve both medication and a range of other activities designed to support you in your recovery including:

  • Talking therapies – A range of therapies that help with finding relief from mental distress promoting emotional wellbeing
  • Education about your symptoms and illness
  • Help with getting better sleep
  • Support in organising your time and planning activities
  • Finding and linking into activities in the community that support your recovery
  • Group programs
  • Social skills training
  • Family support
  • Harm reduction services, including needle syringe program and safer injecting/safer drug use referral support
  • Counselling and home-based withdrawal
  • Drug education, overdose and prevention

Planning for discharge

Throughout your time with us, we will work closely with you to plan the most appropriate care to meet your needs. This includes identifying and planning for the time when you no longer need intensive or specialised clinical care from us, if needed.

We will work with you, your GP, private psychiatrist, family/carer and other appropriate partners in care to create a plan for support following discharge.
